Panga Fishing

Panga Fishing

Over the last week, we have had some dynamite fishing on our 22' Panga Skiff thanks to warm sea temperatures and crystal-clear water. If you've tried our inshore bottom fishing trip on the Shamrock already, or are just looking for an affordable way to get out into the Atlantic Ocean and look at Wrightsville from the other side, make a reservation to go fishing with Captain John while the water is still warm.

On the Panga, we offer two exciting types of fishing. The first is bottom fishing on the Liberty Ship, an artificial reef three miles offshore in the Atlantic Ocean. Here, in addition to the usual pinfish, pigfish, black sea bass, and flounder we often catch on the Shamrock, you can also catch grey and silver snapper, sharks, and other neat and delicious fish you won't find inshore. The second style of fishing is topwater trolling for Spanish Mackerel, Bluefish, Ladyfish (poorman's Tarpon, we call them, because of the exciting fight they put up), and Lizardfish. This is an action-filled style of fishing where we are constantly trolling along the pristine shoreline of Masonboro Island, using Clark Spoons and Planers on hand lines, targeting the hard-fighting game fish highly sought after by local sport fishermen. If you've never been trolling before, Captain John will take his time and show you how, even letting you drive the boat if you choose. Charters can be customised to favor one type of fishing over the other, depending on your preference.

These trips are best for small groups of three to four. Children under twelve are required by the Coast Guard to wear lifejackets. Be sure to wear sunscreen, bring snacks and plenty of water, and take precautions against seasickness as we will be out in the ocean.

See you on the water! Call Capt. Joe at (910) 200-4002 to make your reservation today.
