Beach Eco-Tour
This 2-hour Island excursion, on a catamaran-style marine vessel, includes a shell hunt on the beach and eco-education talk of Masonboro Island. The talk will teach participants about the function and importance of our coastal marine ecosystems. This unique trip encourages children to explore the shore and find treasures from the sea to use in an art project.
Captain Joe, renowned field ornithologist and owner of WB scenic tours, created this tour option for kids. Realizing that most of our local and regional youth have never been on a boat or an Island, Capt. Joe says “I believe it is my mission to educate the future generations about our coastal marine flora and fauna.”
While searching for the shell masterpieces we will also identify and discuss their discoveries. This experiential experience reinforces the concepts of natural beauty and importance of preservation and conservation of these fragile environments. Students will experience beach memories they can share with everyone as their exploration unlocks new found understanding of barrier Islands.
This adventure is offered from 9am-11pm Monday-Friday
