This tour focuses on the natural history and ecology of the Wrightsville Beach waterways. The captain and crew highlight interesting natural features and spot wildlife. Dozens of shorebirds can be spotted, including the brown pelican, the black skimmer, various gulls and terns, and others. There’s also a good chance of spotting marine mammals and the occasional sea turtle.
The route is from the Blockade Runner dock to the backside of Masonboro island. The tour stops at areas to allow for wildlife viewing and to soak in the natural beauty of the saltmarsh and barrier island eco-system.
